Hi All,
Welcome to The Hagon Jones Homestead video on Growing Wine Cap Mushrooms. (Stropharia Rugosoannulata)
In this Video I am creating, adding spawn and watering our new Wine Cap Mushroom bed. I have chosen a spot that is almost 100% covered with shade and is on the north side of some of our outbuildings. I am under the impression that Wine Cap mushrooms spread well and are fairly easy to grow, so I am hoping that this is a great start.
Steps I took:
Built small retaining wall so I could flatten out the space under the trees.
Cardboard down to help keep the weeds out. (Focused on a solid overlap of cardboard)
Straw / Hay mix down and raked semi flat.
Add and break up Mushroom kit.
Rake in Wine Cap Mushroom Spawn
Top with wood chips
Heavily water (200ltr)
About the space:
North side of buildings with tree shade as well.
Raised bed 5' x 10'
Runs right next to a ditch line for added moisture.
We have rain collection near by for watering when needed.
Products used:
Wine Cap Mushroom Spawn.
Cardboard for weed suppression.
Straw / Hay mix from the goat barn clean out.
Pine Mulch as a topper. (Hardwood Chips would be better)
Thank you very much for checking out our video !!
