In Episode 15, we spent 2 nights in historical Hue. Hue was the old capital city of Vietnam before Hanoi.

On our first full day we visit the Ancient city of Hue inside the Citadel and Imperial City. We are lucky enough to have a free driver for the afternoon, which is a god send in the stifling humidity and heat of the city.

Our second day sees us take in a day trip out into the DMZ and find out more about the Vietnam war. Here we visit the Quang Tri Citadel, the sight of Vietnam's fiercest battle between the north and south.

We then head out towards the Laos border where we look around Khe Shan Combat base, a site for cargo drops during the Vietnam war.

Then it's time to stop for some lunch and sample our first Beef Pho, the most famous traditional Vietnamese dish.

Our 2nd last stop is the Hien Luong Bridge, which was the border between North and South Vietnam.

We finish the day by visiting the VInh Moc Tunnles. The tunnels we built by villagers during the Vietnam conflic and would escape to the tunnels during operation "Rolling Thunder". Inside the tunnel system, the villagers lived for weeks, months and years to stay safe. A fascinating insight into Vietnam's history.
