On this trip, I started my day aboard the 7:15 am NSW TrainLink XPT from Macksville to Kempsey. I traveled using a Country Pensioner Excursion (CPE) ticket, which I booked a few days before departure. Thanks to my Seniors Card, the ticket cost just $2.50.
Upon arrival in Kempsey, I caught the local Busways #340 bus service down to Port Macquarie. From there, I took Busways #333 to Kendall, a scenic route passing through Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, North Haven, Camden Haven, and Laurieton.
At Kendall, I used my Seniors Card once more to book my return trip to Macksville.
I arrived back at Macksville at 1.47 pm on board the XPT that departed Sydney that same morning at 7.15 am.
Total cost for the day’s travel? Just $7.50!
