The beater bar would only move a little, or not at all, and I hoped cleaning the beater bar and removing the hair and strings wrapped around it would help. Struggling with one screw where the head was stripping out, a JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdriver did the trick. Cleaning the roller with hemostats and tweezers did the trick and it works like it should.
