On Saturday, February 8th, 2020 I toed the line of Sean O'Brien 100K - a beautiful course in Malibu, California in the Santa Monica mountains. I set out to run 100 km... Now of course things don't always go to plan...
The 100 km course has about 13,000 feet of total elevation gain, while the 50 miler course has about 10,600 feet of total elevation gain... Not an easy course at all simply for all the climbing involved (in fact the race director outlined multiple times how TOUGH this race is). It's not technical at all - just a lot of climbing on a course that has no shade. It's also extremely beautiful. The views were absolutely stunning.
No crew or pacers are allowed on this course, but I met and chatted with so many runners out there - sharing stories with them was one thing this video doesn't capture, but will always be a part of this race I am grateful for.
