In this video, we follow the journey of Summer, a 33-month-old child with reducible metatarsus adductus. We discuss the different types and stages of metatarsus adductus, as well as the different management options available. Summer's Podiatrist advised her parents to use Supramalleolar (SMO) devices, which are custom-made devices that are designed to be used within the footwear and for short periods when barefoot.
Summer has been wearing the devices for 2 months now and has been doing well. She is able to walk, run, jump, and play without any pain or discomfort. We will continue to monitor her condition over the next 18 months to track her progress.
