The Twite (Linaria flavirostris) is a small finch found mainly in northern and western Europe. It breeds in open upland areas such as heather moorlands and grassy slopes, particularly in the British Isles, Scandinavia, and parts of northern continental Europe. After the breeding season, Twites migrate southwards. Northern populations move to coastal regions and lowlands in western Europe, including the British coasts, the Netherlands, and northern France. These areas serve as their wintering grounds, where they feed in saltmarshes, stubble fields, and weedy farmland. In spring, they return north to their breeding territories, following a short-distance migratory route within western Europe.
