The Florida Condominium collapse is one recent example of engineers in the news who were called upon to apply their expertise and then have to deliver bad news. Every day engineers protect society. One of the toughest parts of engineering is not anything technical. It's when bad news has to be delivered, it's when an inspection or a design is found to reveal problems. This episode discussed some real life examples in my own career and provides an extreme example of a Quality Control Engineer friend of mine who turned government whistle blower against a major military contractor. Engineers starting their careers need to understand that once experience and job titles are gained, these usually come with very serious responsibilities. This episode starts to lay out and prepare engineers for the kinds of tough choices that they may face in their careers.
