[ Review ] Maselec MLA-2 Precision Stereo Compressor

Originally designed for Prism by engineer/producer Leif Mases, the MLA-2 has been meticulously crafted from the ground up to deliver an unparalleled level of performance and transparency, whilst being incredibly easy to operate thanks to its ergonomic and intuitive layout.

It uses the principle of a fixed threshold - in a similar vein to that of say, an 1176 - adjusting the compression amount according to the input gain, simply put, more gain equals more compression.
It utilises an optical gain element, resulting in smooth and characteristically
musical compression with low noise and extremely low distortion. This makes it a fantastic option for vocals, piano, drums and just about and dynamic source that warrants transparent yet highly effective and natural compression.

Utilizza il principio della soglia fissa – simile a quella di un 1176 – e regola la quantità di compressione in base al guadagno d’ingresso: più guadagno equivale a una maggiore compressione. Il Maselec MLA-2 utilizza un elemento di guadagno ottico, che consente di ottenere una compressione dolce e musicale, con un basso livello di rumore di fondo e una distorsione estremamente ridotta. Questo lo rende un’opzione fantastica per voce, pianoforte, batteria e qualsiasi sorgente dinamica che richieda una compressione trasparente, ma altamente efficace e naturale.
