In much of 19th century American history, water power was king. When that water power was next to a major canal, everyone wanted in.
Everything looked perfect for the area around Tinkers Creek Falls in Bedford, Ohio. Just a few miles off the Ohio & Erie Canal, mills were built above the falls, below the falls, at the falls and, often, right on top of the ruins of previous mills. This was a problem, as hit happens. So many mills were built, in fact, that they ran out of water!
Join me as I explore the ruins of what's left around the falls, with sawmills, roller mills, and even a very early, DC power plant for the town, and learn of their ultimate fate.
