How To Make Jaggery Syrup At Home | How To Melt Jaggery
Ingredients:
Jaggery - 1 Cup
Water - 3/4 Cup
Method:
Roughly chop jaggery and add it to a deep pan. Add water and let it melt on a medium flame. Stir a few times in between till it melts completely. At this stage, if the jaggery has some particles floating, turn off the heat and filter the liquid using a tea filter. Now clean the pan and add the filtered jaggery liquid to it. Switch on the flame and let the jaggery liquid come to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, cook for another 3 to 4 minutes on medium flame till the liquid thickens a bit. Test it by carefully touching a little bit of jaggery with your finger (be very careful as it will be hot). When you press this liquid between two of your fingers, it should be sticky. That's when you switch off the flame. Once it cools down, it will thicken further. Once its cool, transfer the liquid to another container (preferably glass container) and use it in tea or coffee or milk or as a sweetener in any other beverage or sweet you make. Enjoy!
