Puerto de la Cruz Walk 4K | City Centre to Lago Martiánez, Surf Beach & Mirador de La Paz Views

Welcome to a new 4K walking tour through Puerto de la Cruz, one of the most authentic and atmospheric cities in northern Tenerife. In today’s walk, we start right in the vibrant city centre, among shops, cafés, and restaurants filled with the daily life of locals and travellers.

From there, we head towards the coast, following the oceanfront promenade where the Atlantic waves crash against volcanic rocks. This stretch of coastline is one of the most beautiful parts of Puerto de la Cruz, offering views of the city wrapped around the shore.

Soon we arrive at Lago Martiánez, a spectacular complex of giant seawater pools designed by the legendary César Manrique. Even from outside you can feel the scale of this place — the pools are so large they’re visible from the sky when flying over Tenerife. Inside, visitors can relax, swim, sunbathe, eat, drink, and enjoy the unique sound of the waves breaking just a few metres away. Residents even receive a reduced entry price, making it an ideal full-day experience.

Continuing along the promenade, we reach the beach, where sunbathers enjoy the black sand while surfers take advantage of the perfect waves. This part of Puerto de la Cruz is known for its surf culture and incredible coastal scenery.

As we begin to climb the colourful stairs — one of the city’s most iconic spots — the view slowly opens up. Step by step, the ocean becomes wider and the city starts to reveal itself from above.

At the top, we arrive at the Mirador de La Paz, one of the finest viewpoints in Puerto de la Cruz. From here you can see everything we have walked through: the coastline, the surf zone, the gardens, the hotels, the beach, and the immense Lago Martiánez.
