S. Kasthuri Rangan is a distinguished Carnatic vocalist based in Chennai, renowned for his strict adherence to traditional Carnatic music and his melodious, briga-laden vocal style. He began his musical journey under Smt. Shankunthala in Mumbai and later specialized in Muthuswami Dikshitar's Navavarna and Navagraha Krithis under the guidance of Smt. Kalyani Sharma. He received advanced training from the legendary Padmabhushan Sangita Kalanidhi Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan, becoming a prominent exponent of the TNS baani (style). An A-grade artist of All India Radio, Kasthuri Rangan has performed extensively across India and internationally, including in Europe, the Gulf, East Asia, and Canada. His performances, deeply rooted in tradition yet rich in expressive nuances, are highly regarded by rasikas and critics alike. Beyond performance, he has contributed to the field through recordings and by mentoring the next generation of musicians. In 1992, he was awarded a special Music Academy scholarship for Pallavis during their Spirit of Youth concert series. Among his disciples is Kalyanapuram S. Aravind, who later continued advanced training under T.N. Seshagopalan. Continuing to remain active in the Carnatic music scene, S. Kasthuri Rangan’s dedication as both performer and teacher continues to enrich and uphold the legacy of classical South Indian music.

O Valli.. Lord Vadivelan (Murugan), who resides in the great city of Tiruchendur and is the groom dear to our hearts.
O Valli.. the blissful one who shines in the sweet Tamil language and is the beloved of those who worship him daily.
O Valli.. Murugan, who is worshipped by the gods daily, who resides in the blissful Harikesa Nagar, who sings divine songs of joy, who embodies harmony, who imparts the knowledge of noble virtues, and who even taught his own father as the supreme guru.
