With childcare costs this summer on track to be the highest on record, demand for part-time roles and enhanced parental leave has been consistently high in recent months, according to Flexa’s own candidate data.
Over 20% of all candidates have expressed their desire to work for a company with enhanced parental leave policies. It is clear that parents are looking for more than the bare minimum and are looking for companies that will support parents and allow them to prosper in their roles.
How can you create a working environment where parents can thrive?
With the obvious differences between a parent’s schedule and those without children, one of the most effective ways to support working parents is by implementing core hours. Whether that means they can drop off/pick up their kids without the stress of being late to work, have a family breakfast together before work, go out for lunch together or simply take some time during the day to spend time with their children, all whilst getting their work done when it suits their day best. Creating a culture where your team is rewarded based on output, not a rigid schedule and making sure this is echoed through the whole company, senior, mid and junior staff.
There are so many more things you could be doing as a company in order to support working parents and some it is up to each company to find what works best for their people.
So how do you create the best working environment for your teams?
In this webinar, our CEO Molly Johnson-Jones will be joined by Sarah Hawley, Growmotely CEO, Catherine Lightfoot, VP of People at TrueLayer and Sarah Hesz, CCO at Bubble to discuss the best practices in creating an equal working environment for parents.
Sarah, Founder and CEO of Growmotely, the world's first remote-work marketplace for full-time roles, focused on culture-first hiring. Passionate about remote work, diversity & inclusion, conscious culture & leadership, Sarah is an author and speaker, and a Linkedin Top Voice on remote work. As a parent herself, who runs Growmotely from home, there are enormous benefits to not having to commute and to having more flexibility. Sarah advocates that without providing this flexibility we simply lose otherwise great talent from the workforce.
Catherine Lightfoot, VP of People at TrueLayer, a leader in the People & Tech space and strong advocate for providing the right support for working parents, 'We know finding balance as a working parent can be extremely difficult. We aim to alleviate this pressure by supporting new and existing parents in all situations so they can get the best out of their work and family life’
Sarah, CCO at Bubble, the leading app for trusted flexible childcare on demand. Sarah is passionate about how better childcare provision can boost diversity, inclusion and deliver very tangible ROI - for businesses and for our whole economy.
