The beautiful rococo villa "Robininghof" is one of Salzburg's hidden gems. Situated in Schallmoss, a region of the city which was a wetland until the 17th century, the villa was once owned by the Robinig family, who were close friends of the Mozarts. On this week's snapshot, we get to take a look at this exceptionally well-preserved example of late-Baroque architecture and talk about the family for whom Mozart composed his "musique vom Robinig".
About Mozart Snapshots:
Each and everyone of us is shaped by the place where we spend our earliest years. Mozart was no exception. One of the first true cosmopolites of classical music, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a native of the picturesque alpine city of Salzburg, Austria. In this new series, I will explore Mozart's relationship to his home town through fun-filled conversations, insightful interviews and once-in-a-lifetime visits to interesting locations in Salzburg that have a special connection to Mozart and his family, then and now.
