the Ocean Revival's is a non-profit association that had the initiative to create a new dive site by sinking four Portuguese Navy vessels. The Zambezi Ocean Patrol, Corvette Oliveira e Carmo, The Almeida Carvalho Hydrographic Vessel, and The Frigate Commander Hermenejildo Capelo. they create the largest artificial reef in the world. From 18 to 30 meters depth, just 15 minutes by boat from Portimão, Portugal. Located at 230 km south from Lisbon.
they called the Ocean Revival Project.
This project has the ambition to create a new diving site and place the Algarve as a world-class European diving destination. Additionally, the initiative aims to generate a new type of low season tourism, to contribute for the increase of bio-diversity and to preserve the memory of the Portuguese Navy vessels.
