Toshiba MRL Elevator - Marina Bay MRT Station, SG (NSL Platform)

One interesting thing about the Toshiba elevators found in the North South and East West Line stations of Singapore MRT, is that they use KONE EcoDisc motors. This was possible because back in 1998 KONE and Toshiba had a strategic alliance and Toshiba began developing its own MRL elevator system with KONE's support. The result is, Toshiba SPACEL, which was based on the KONE MonoSpace with EcoDisc motor, albeit the design is entirely from Toshiba. A unique combination of Japanese and Finnish technology.

Like in many older MRT stations, this elevator was added in the early 2000s as part of the station's upgrading programme to improve accessibility access. The elevator, despite being imported from Japan, has been designed specifically for Singapore MRT. This include custom announcement and floor indicators, as well as Dewhurst buttons.
