"The Truth Hurts" was written by Bob "Rattlesnake" Greenlee, Ernie Lancaster, Kenny Neal, and Jimmy Payne and initially released in 1991 on the album "Walking On Fire" by blues guitarist Kenny Neal from New Orleans. Apart from his own projects, Kenny Neal was also a member of Downchild Blues Band from Canada, which became famous when "I've Got Everything I Need (Almost)" and "Flip, Flop and Fly" from their 1973 album "Straight Up" were featured on the first Blues Brothers album "Briefcase Full of Blues" (1978). Those two songs are also part of The Magictones’ set list.
This video was recorded at the wonderful Stadtpark in Fürth as guest of Fürth’s Jazzclub FÜ-JAZZ. The tune shows the blues side of our set list. Featured soloists on guitars are Ralph Hunger and Andre Engelbrecht. The audio is taken directly from the static mobile phone, the live sound was in the hands of Schlot.
You can listen to another recording of this song as part of our album "Last Night Live - Encore", available on all streaming services and Youtube Music.
