Photographing Nature’s Rarest Cubs – Erythristic Badgers Caught on Camera

In this unforgettable wildlife experience, I spend months documenting a rare and beautiful badger family that made their home in my carefully nurtured wildlife haven. Among them — three erythristic cubs, an incredibly rare genetic variation that gives them a golden-reddish coat instead of the typical black and white markings.

Filmed across both day and night, this video captures intimate and heartwarming moments: playful scuffles, tender family bonds, and the quiet trust of a mother who allows me to lie just meters away. It’s a rare privilege to be welcomed into their world — and to witness something few people ever will.

These animals are remarkable… and tragically, still under threat. While I filmed this, news broke of another government-sanctioned badger cull — a stark reminder of how fragile their future is. We must do more to protect them.
