This is video #04 in my playthrough of Super Mario Bros. 3. Mario moves on to one of the funnest worlds in the game, World 4: Giant Land. Right away, he is presented with two pipes. The one to the east goes where he needs to go. As soon as he comes up the other side, he use the Hammer to access a red Toad's House, where he can acquire a Tanooki Suit! This is an upgraded Super Leaf with an added ability. If Mario presses down and B, he will become a statue briefly.
As soon as he enters Level 4-1 (time index 0:38), we learn why this place is called Giant Land. Holy Jack in the Beanstalk! Despite being bigger, though, most of the enemies are no more difficult than before.
Mario next tours Level 4-2 (time index 2:11). This is another stage with rising and falling water, and it is also the stage where all the coins can be collected to make the world's White Toad's House appear. Worse yet, Mario will be bombarded by Flying Cheep-Cheeps in the latter part of the stage. The White Toad's House will have an Anchor.
He then visits 4-3 (time index 3:39). Be careful of the big Sledge Bros. before entering the undergound section.
Then, Mario goes through Fort 1 (time index 5:41). Be careful of sliding Thwomp Traps and Hot Feet.
Next, Mario fights a Hammer Bros. encounter (time index 6:54). In this world, naturally, Mario will fight Sledge Bros. This Sledge Bro has a Jugem's Cloud to win.
Afterwards, he goes through 4-4 (time index 7:08). A simple enough watery stage where Lakitu will throw in Spiny Eggs to keep Mario company. How thoughtful.
Mario next fights the other two Hammer Bros. in this world (time index 8:05). One drops a Star Man, and the other drops a P-Wing.
Then, he takes on Level 4-5 (time index 8:37). Beware of the Missile Bills. A vine leads to a secret chamber with a Tanooki Suit.
Mario next goes through the interesting 4-6 (time index 10:42). This level has a side with large enemies and another with normal-size enemies. Interesting.
Fort 2 is accessible between 4-5 and 4-6 (time index 12:52). This fort has a secret vertical area leading to some 1-Ups and serious coinage.
Finally, Mario visits the castle and heads up to the Doomship (time index 15:46). This one's cannons don't shoot Bullet Bills; they are Flame Throwers. Interestingly, the Tanooki suit's statue stomp can knock out Flame Throwers that face up or right, but not those that face left. Be careful, though; standing next to or on a Flame Thrower will not prevent it from firing.
At the end, Mario faces the nutty Iggy Koopa (time index 18:15). He can fire two sets of rings, and he jumps higher the more damage he takes, but he's pretty wimpy.
The land's king looks a bit strange. The Giant Land king in the Super Mario Bros. 3 series is a bit more believable. Fortunately, he hands over a letter from the Princess. Her hint is about the Whistle in eastern World 2. She has enclosed a P-Wing, quite useful in the upcoming world.
Thanks for watching!
