Blasted by Icy 40mph Winds | Tarp Shelter on the High Fells | Warming MSR Windburner Hot Chocolate
We head out to the fells on what was supposed to be a nice day. A brutal north easterly wind made the going tough on this hike as we headed up to Fairsnape Fell summit. Lots of warm layers and a tarp shelter made for a warming (if a tad draughty) shelter from the elements! Lunch in the shelter and a warming hot chocolate courtesy of the MSR Windburner as we looked out at the clouds scudding across the winter sky from the tarp.
Tom and Emilie did really well in some bad weather and hikes like this serve to introduce them to some tougher conditions in a controlled manner.
