An adventurous drive over the HardKnott Pass, a narrow, winding and very steep lane. The route includes the approach along Eskdale and then the steep climb, with sharp hairpins, concluding with an equally steep descent. Hardknott Pass is the steepest road in England.
The road is very wet and the low clouds are blowing through the hills. One of the hairpins almost proves to be one turn too many! Fourth time lucky on this occasion.
