This CINEMATIC DOCUMENTARY reveals VIETNAM'S MOST ANCIENT FOOD CULTURE, found deep in the Central Highlands. See the Co Tu Tribe, one of the last forest communities, share their unique heritage, from traditional life to cooking Bamboo Rice (Cơm Lam) over an open fire.
This film dives deep into Da Nang’s mountains, where I SPENT 2 DAYS with the Co Tu Tribe. The experience captures a way of life built on fire, forest, and family, showcasing a crucial part of Vietnam Heritage. From simple meals by the hearth to hunting in the misty highlands, I shared their food, their laughter, and their stories.
🍃 WHAT THIS DOCUMENTARY REVEALS:
Daily life inside a Co Tu mountain village in Tay Giang.
Cooking Bamboo Rice (“Com Lam”) over open fire.
Fishing and foraging in wild forest streams.
Ancient customs and spiritual life at the GươL house.
The deep connection between nature, food, and community.
Why their traditions are fading as modern Vietnam expands.
For two days, I slept on bamboo mats, joined them in forest hunts, and cooked with wild ingredients. What I found was a life rich not in money, but in meaning.
📍 LOCATION: A Dich, Tay Giang (A remote area near Da Nang Highlands – Central Vietnam). This village is part of the Co Tu Tribe's homeland, representing Vietnam's Indigenous heritage.
The Co Tu Tribe are among VIETNAM’S 54 ethnic groups, representing the rich, yet fading, tapestry of Southeast Asian Tribes. Their ancient forest traditions are quickly vanishing under modernization and resettlement. This cinematic film preserves a crucial part of Indigenous Vietnam’s heritage that may not survive another generation.
