Helical Machined Springs | Pure Moments with Torsion Springs

A pure moment is rotation without translation.

To show the benefits of our Helical Machined Springs, we load two different wire wound and three different machined springs into a manual torsion testing device.

Applying a force to each knob creates torque and deflects the corresponding spring.

Wire Wound Springs & Unresolved Moments

Spring #1: A traditional, wire wound torsion spring. Result: Force at a distance causes bending and some rotation.

Spring #2: A traditional, wire wound torsion spring on a mandrel. Result: The mandrel prevents the spring from bending, but results in rubbing.

Helical Machined Springs & Pure Moments

Spring #3: Machined spring with slotted end attachment. Result: No mandrel and no bending.

Spring #4: Machined spring with hex end attachment. Result: No mandrel and no bending.

Spring #5: Machined spring with flange pin attachment. Result: No mandrel and no bending.
