A 50 Mph (80 Km/h), 70% overlap rear crash test. The barrier weighs 1360 kg. (About 3000 lbs.) A research test analyzing a faster, more severe rear impact to assess fuel system integrity. This test protocol would later be used for the 2007MY and later.
This is a test on the fuel system to ensure there is no fuel leakage in a high-speed rear-end collision. This test was performed at TRC Ohio in East Liberty, Ohio on 11/01/1998.
Result: Pass - Fuel leaked from the vehicle during all four stages of the static rollover, but amount was within allowable limits. A total of 324 Grams (11.4 Ounces) of stoddard leaked from the vehicle during the static rollover.
