Winter Solitude is about getting out into the outdoors and just finding that peacefulness that nature provides. Being alone in nature gives you plenty of time to think, and think, and think. Living in Kitimat, on the pacific north west coast, we are fortunate because locations such as this exist only 10 minutes from our doorstep. Within 10 minutes you are at hirsch creek and you will have 4 different trails to choose from. The trail you choose depends on how far you want to hike. up to the canyon. 7km. Just to the old bridge. 1km. around the park through old growth forest. 1km. or you could head down to coho flats on the kitimat river, and then carry on to fishermans trail. 15km. All of these options are from the same spot on the creek. The adventures are endless. in the summer you can see the many different types of salmon spawning in the creek. right now we watched trout swimming under the ice so cool.
