Smelt Dipping Cowlitz River - Catch and Cook

Since I moved to Washington I have wanted to try smelt dipping but unfortunately is always occured on a day I had prior plans. Well, I am here to tell you that 2022 was the year I was going to make smelt dipping a reality. I saw that WDFW announced a smelt dip for March 5th on the Cowlitz River. I have never fished on the Cowlitz so I reached out to Blake from Washington fish quest for some help. I know he has smelt dipping experience. Blake was kind enough to share a good location with me. The next thing I did was call my friends Lonzo and Brett to see if they wanted in on this dipping adventure. They were both down to try and net some smelt. It was such a fun experience and look forward to doing it again hopefully next year.
