Is This Melbourne’s Best Hidden Bike Path?

Need a little two-wheeled adventure? I rolled through Melbourne’s southeast on the Dandenong Creek Trail, 44km of mixed surface with smooth gravel, bird hides and suburban bushland.
This ride covers the Monash section, from Highbury Road to Jells Park. Bushy Park wetlands came through with that calm energy, Drummies Bridge Reserve and Shepherds Bush was all birdsong minus the wooden bridge (currently in reno mode). As the trail keeps heading south, Corhanwarrabul Wetlands winds its way to Patterson River and Currum Rocks.
Gravel’s mostly dialled in, clean lines causing no drama. Perfect for zoning out and soaking up some base kilometres. It’s nature and neighbourhood holding hands.
If you’re hunting bike paths or just out here appreciating the overlooked corners of the city, this route delivers. Wetlands, horses, winding paths, just good terrain and good headspace.
