Route Visual: Southern Vectis Route 1. Cowes to Newport

So, here we are. More route visuals are back and back with a massive bang too. It’s the Isle of Wight! Before my major move away from Grimsby (will be explained soon) me and my nana took a nice break away to the south coast, that being the Isle of Wight for instance. Now the island is majorly train heavy as it’s only a small line from Ryde to Shanklin and the IOW Steam Railway from Smallbrooke to Wooten Bridge via Havenstreet. But the island is very very busy heavy.

Enough of that, starting from the start is the route 1 from Newport to Cowes. The clip starts from Cowes going into Newport from the north, the start and end point in Cowes wasn’t originally from the Co-Op. it originally started from the Red Jet ferry terminal right by the docks for Southampton, the buses that ran that was dinky E200s to fit into the bus stop. However this was stopped due to relentless crashes and incidents in which it was stopped and now utilises deckers. Vectis are very decker heavy too because of the amount of tourism that takes place on the island. The route 1 uses brand new 73 plate Alexander Denis Enviro 400MMCs with the new camera mirrors on them. These are heavy restricted to set routes that include the 1 and routes 5 and 9 to East Cowes and Ryde respectively. The route is fairly short but has 2 different routes going in and out of Cowes. The route we filmed was via the Cowes Park and ride while the other side serves Round House. This also has a night bus service numbered N1, this was a new addition which came into play and was renumbered to N numbers in May of 2023. These also include the N3 from Newport to Ryde via Godshill, Ventnor and Shanklin, N5 from Newport to East Cowes and the N9 from Newport to Ryde via Medina/Staplers.

I was going to film this day I was to travel back north however family said it would cause and issues if anything goes wrong, but don’t worry. I’ll be back on that island and competing the 8 soon enough.
