After using the Maffetone Method for 12 weeks and following some early frustrations with the low heart rate-based training, see how I have adapted MAF to incorporate hills and trails into my preparation for Tarawera Ultra Marathon (50km trail run). I've been able to continue running up hills and along trails while keeping a close eye on my heart rate. See how I have compensated for the heart rate spikes when I start running uphill. Also, there's a lot of other things that can affect your heart rate when you're running. See some of the more common problems I have encountered on my MAF journey.
