We are in the engine room of the tugboat Fournier Brothers of Penobscot Bay Tractor Tug Company, where we see the number 2 engine as it gets started up. The number 1 engine was already started, so I wasn't able to get both of them. Both engines are 12 cylinder turbocharged 645-E2's, producing 1500 horsepower each. Both turn a Lufkin reduction gear, which has a reduction value of 4:1 to the propellers. The tug is a twin screw, and she was built in 1953 for the US Army. After looking around the engine room, we head above deck to the main deck and see one of the other tugboats, Fort Point, as she sits next to the pier. Enjoy the sounds from the engine room.
