In the first part of this series, I use my trusty Boxford lathe to form a corkscrew worm. The lathe gears were set for four threads per inch to space the worm out. I used 3mm silver steel, but it remains to be seen how well this will work. The thickness may expand the cork too much in the bottle and prevent removal.
