This cover represents my love for music. First off, I love great vocal music and jazz. I have never played jazz as well as I want too. But that’s because I have never dug in deep enough to learn the entire vocabulary of phasing and ideas. But I listen a lot to jazz music and love the complex harmonies, melodies, and polyrhythmic phasing. That said, this seems like a simple enough song. It’s not! The drum part is burning by and my technique is not there anymore, or maybe ever! But my love for trying something different is what you hear today. This is a classic Weather Report song sung by some of the greatest singer ever The Manhattan Transfer. Wow, it a powerful song ... so this is my effort after hammering out a drum part for one hour! I think I could play this for week and not get it much better. When in doubt I follow my ears and play things from my small bag of tricks. I have been playing 45 years, I really don’t much! But I had fun on this one. Enjoy!
