Roy Strom 327: Roaring Autocar WXLL Split G&H Rear Loader Garbage Truck

After hoping and waiting for over 2 years, I have finally been able to track down this one-of-a-kind beast. Some of you may remember my Roy Strom Rear Loader Compilation from a few years ago, and I featured a clip of this very truck at the end. Unsatisfied with the little footage I got, I have been trying to find it which has not been easy, considering it’s a last resort spare. However, on a nice and wet Saturday morning after Labor Day I was finally able to find it again. While split rear loaders are no strangers to the Roy Strom fleet, both Autocars and G&H’s are (WXLL’s, at least. There are a few WX’s that run commercial). In general this is quite a rare combo, but breaking it down even further seeing a first generation Autocar WXLL and a G&H is pretty spectacular in my book. This and it’s sister unit 281, along with a Mack LE G&H (271) were the first split trucks Roy Strom bought and I’ve gotta say, they’ve kept this truck in really good shape. There’s no rust and it runs pretty nicely for its age, and with that being said it’s always great to see a company take such pride in their fleet. In this video the driver was only using the right side because I believe he said he was going to help out on another stream later in the day, but I may be wrong. I followed him down a handful of alleys and grabbed enough footage for two parts, so stay tuned for another video of this monster!
