Koalas are special mammals native to Australia.
Like all mammals, they are warm-blooded and have fur.
Mother koalas nurse their babies, called joeys, with milk.
Koalas spend most of their life in eucalyptus trees, where they munch on leaves, sleep, and relax.
Koalas belong to a group of mammals known as marsupials, which means they carry their tiny joeys in a pouch. Kangaroos are another group of marsupials
Unlike many other animals, koalas are quite slow and can sleep up to 20 hours a day because their diet of eucalyptus leaves provides very little energy.
But when they move, they do so with care, crawling slowly among the tree branches.
Koalas are also excellent climbers. They use their strong limbs and sharp claws to grip tightly onto the bark, easily moving through the treetops despite their sleepy nature.
