This painting has sort of an accidental color scheme. I mixed up an indigo that was too close to purple, set half aside, then used the other half to make a true indigo. Unfortunately I grabbed the more purple version to paint this. I actually really like it though. It messes up my chances for a triptych as the colors don't match as well any more, but that is OK. I always love the square composition. I love how it dried to a clean smooth semigloss finish. The colors really pop in the sunlight. The purplish-indigo looks really nice next to the gold and the brown keeps it all from being too overwhelming.
