Subway Series 2005 game 1 of the 3 game series from Shea Stadium Original WPIX Broadcast with Dave O'Brien and Tom Seaver recorded and Digitalized off the original DVD recorded disc, which has been recently restored (remastered to BluRay) and making its debut on the Phenia Film MLB archival page.
The crosstown rivals have similar records coming into the Subway Series and Interleague play for 2005, veteran right hander Kevin Brown (2--4) starts for Joe Torre's Yankees and right hander Victor Zambrano (2-3) for Willie Randolph's Mets. Game is tied at 1-1 after 5 innings on a RBI double from Hideki Matsui in the Yankee 4th and a RBI double from Kaz Matsui in the bottom frame. Zambrano runs into trouble in the 6th inning, a couple errors from SS Kaz Matsui and gold glover Doug Mientkiewicz cost the Mets the game as the Yankees pick up 2 runs (1 unearned) for the 3-1 lead as middle reliever Tanyon Sturtze takes over for Brown in the 6th inning.
Hideki Matsui goes 2 for 5 with a couple RBIs and 2 runs scored as the Yankees bullpen allow just a run on 2 hits, as Mariano Rivera sets the Mets down in order in the 9th to earn his 8th save of the 2005 season. While Kevin Brown with the win (allowing 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 5 and walking 4) and Victor Zambrano with the loss (allowing 3 runs on 4 hits striking out 4 and walking 6)
