Kill the bill protests 2/2, London - Geez photowalk #46

Welcome to another Geez photowalk where I'm sharing the street photography experience one shot at a time!

This one is more documentary photography than street photography although those two are overlapping depending on the context.

This "Kill the Bill" protest is about the Public Order Bill designed to crack down on ‘disruptive’ protests in the UK.
Those protests were recorded in April 2021 but are relevant today since the bill is currently being considered by Parliament (at House of Lords before final stage and final decision).

There are calls for Government to rethink the Public Order Bill after journalists were arrested two weeks ago.
Documentarian Rich Felgate, documentary photographer Tom Bowles, and Charlotte Lynch, a reporter for LBC, were arrested and detained for filming the actions of the environment activists on the motorway.

Felgate and Bowles were arrested and held for 13 hours, despite showing their press cards to police officers. Lynch, who also had a press card, was arrested, and held for five hours.

The arrests prompted widespread outrage.
