Patricia Morrison was the original star of Kiss Me Kate when it opened in theatres in 1948, and 16 years later the BBC made a TV show of it, including star of the 1953 film Howard Keel. Like in the film Patricia has to suffer the spanking she receives on stage, but none of the indignities of Kathryn Grayson in the film, as she is chastised and humiliated on stage in front of an audience who are unaware of the ad lib by Keel or the drama behind it all as Patricia has discovered that flowers sent to her were meant for the young co star. Astonishingly Patricia Morrison lived to 103, dying in 2018.
