In Tripura village, Anjel Chakma’s family comes to terms with his death | BBC News India

The death of Anjel Chakma, a 24-year-old student, from India's north eastern state of Tripura has sparked outrage across India. His family alleges he was killed after a racial attack in northern state of Uttarakhand. An allegation that the police have questioned.

But Anjel’s story goes beyond one night of violence.

The BBC’s Ishadrita Lahiri and Antariksh Jain visit Anjel’s remote village in Tripura to speak to his brother Micheal, his father, friends and student leaders - many of whom describe a lifetime of racial abuse faced by people from India’s North East outside the region.
