Replacing Front Shocks -- 1994-1996 Chevy Caprice, 9C1, Impala SS, Buick Roadmaster, B-Body, D-Body

Join us in the garage today as we replace the front shocks on a
1994 Chevy Caprice 9C1.

In the last video, we replaced the rear shocks. In this video, we tackle
the front shocks.

It's an easy job with a lift. But with a jack and jack stands, it's a little
more tricky as the car needs lifted high enough to remove the shock. Jacking up the lower control arm may help.

Luckily none of the fasteners were rusted badly after all these years. If your upper shock nut is rusted on, use a deep well socket and a long extension, then bend it back and forth until it breaks off. The shock shaft breaks fairly easily after bending a few times.

Most of the hand tools and parts needed to do this job are outlined in the video.


IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES:
1) Shocks and springs change the dynamics of a car.
2) If any suspension parts are in poor condition, THEY MUST BE REPLACED.
3) If any parts are lost or missing, THEY MUST BE REPLACED.
4) If any parts do not meet factory specifications, THEY MUST BE REPLACED.
5) Pay special attention to rubber parts, especially bushings. If any signs of cracking, splitting, excessive hardness, or noise, THEY MUST BE REPLACED.
6) If you are uncertain how parts go back together, GET HELP FROM A QUALIFIED MECHANIC.
7) Before driving the vehicle, have the work INSPECTED BY A QUALIFIED MECHANIC.
8) Do not drive a vehicle with malfunctioning suspension parts. Any malfuctions should be DIAGNOSED BY A QUALIFIED MECHANIC.
9) Consult the factory service manual for all torque specifications, even if they are called out in my videos. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MISTAKES.
