Come along and take a final ride on one of Southern California's hidden gems - the Pacific Electric Waterfront Red Car, located in San Pedro. Unfortunately, the Red Car will be no more, as it will be shut down on Sunday, September 27, 2015, to make way for the realignment of Sampson Way leading into the nearby Ports O’ Call Village. The Port of LA, owner of the Red Car, has made no interest in re-opening the line, citing it would be too expensive to rebuild.
In this video, you'll take a ride along the 1.5 mile Red Car route, from the Cruise Center Station, to the south 22nd/Marina Station, with stops along the way at Downtown and Ports O'Call Stations, aboard replica Pacific Electric Red Car #500.
With enough pressure to the Port of LA, Southern California's gateway to the Pacific Electric past can be saved.
