If you’ve been told to stretch your neck to relieve pain or tightness—this one's for you.
In this video, I walk you through a simple, towel-based mobility drill that helps bring tactile stimulation to the cervical spine and, more importantly, teaches your brain how to map and stabilise the neck more effectively.
Unlike traditional stretches that can actually weaken overworked neck muscles, this approach is designed to improve neurological control, build stability, and reduce pain over time.
We cover:
✅ How to fold and place the towel for optimal input
✅ Why stretching may be doing more harm than good
✅ Lateral flexion, proper neck stacking, and common mistakes to avoid
✅ The importance of relaxing the shoulders and keeping the movement precise
✅ How to integrate this with visual-motor integration (VMI) in your rehab
This is a great exercise if you're dealing with neck pain, instability, or are working with hypermobility or EDS. It’s gentle, focused, and all about giving your brain the information it needs to help you feel more in control of your body.
