These healthy banana muffins are soft, chocolatey, and made with whole ingredients — perfect for a quick breakfast, snack, or post-workout treat.
Each muffin has only 162 calories and 5g of protein, making them a great option if you’re trying to eat healthier without giving up on taste.
In this recipe, I’ve made two variations:
Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
Banana Pistachio Muffins
Both are naturally sweetened and made without refined sugar or maida (all-purpose flour).
🧁 Why You’ll Love These Muffins
✔ No refined sugar
✔ No maida
✔ Made with whole wheat flour
✔ High-protein & meal-prep friendly
✔ Kid-friendly & freezer-friendly
🧁 Ingredients (12 Muffins)
3 large ripe bananas, mashed
2 eggs
1/4 cup pistachio butter (or any nut butter)
1/3 cup honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp baking powder
1½ cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup milk (add gradually, as needed)
1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped pistachios (for topping)
💡 Tips & Protein Boost Options
You can add chocolate-flavored protein powder to increase the protein content.
If using whey protein, add extra milk (2–4 tbsp) since whey tends to dry out baked goods.
If using casein protein, no extra liquid is usually needed, as casein retains moisture better.
Avoid overmixing the batter to keep muffins soft and fluffy.
Fill muffin cups only 3/4 full to allow proper rise.
📝 Quick Recipe Overview
