AVAL VILAYICHATHU
Ingredients
1) Flattened rice (Aval) – 1 cup (pressed down well)
2) Grated coconut – 2 to 2 ½ cup
3) Grated Jaggery – 3 cups
4) Ghee – 2 to 3 tbsp
5) Crushed cardamom – 5 to 6
6) Sesame seeds – 2 tbsp
7) Greengram dal – ½ cup
Preparation
1) Heat 1 cup of water & the grated jaggery in a pan, stirring to melt, & make it honey like.
2) Add the coconut, heat stirring till the water from coconut dries almost keeping it moist also.
3) Put off flame, cool slightly, add the aval & stir well to mix.
4) Add ghee, Cardamom, dry roasted dal & dry roasted sesame seeds. Stir well.
Serve only after 24 hours.
