Discover the three states of your nervous system and how to shift them in this special 4-week series. As a Somatic Practitioner, Karen Penfold uses methods like Trauma Recovery Yoga to employ the body for relief and recovery. These methods are known as Somatic Practices and are used to regulate the nervous system.
In this series you will learn about your amazing Autonomic Nervous System and how to use Somatic Practices to decrease experiences of stress, anxiety, panic, overwhelm, and depression. Recognize and track the states of your nervous system so you can learn to effectively shift out of stress and trauma responses, and into your relaxation response of the parasympathetic state. It’s in this state that YOU and your body can Rest and Recover.
You will be led through Trauma Recovery Yoga as a therapeutic practice to bring regulation to the nervous system dysregulated by months, years or decades of trauma, traumatic stress or a lifestyle of chronic stress.
Week 1. Cultivating a “Felt Sense of Safety” with the body. We will explore the many sensory systems of the body as we discover what safety feels like in our nervous system - Exteroception, Interception, Proprioception, and Neuroception.
