Children in hospitals who die or subsequently require intensive care almost always show signs of physiological and clinical deterioration in the hours prior to their arrest or collapse. This teaching session is about how to recognise and respond to the deteriorating patient. There are clinical skills that you can learn to do this, and there are simple systems that can be in place in all hospitals to for the early identification and prevention of such deteriorations. This topic is relevant to children with any serious illness involving any system.
