Contestants revealed for Tropika Island of Treasure Maldives

On Monday 5 February 2018 at 19:30, the first episode of Tropika Island of Treasure Maldives will air on SABC3.

So far it has been revealed that Katlego Maboe will be the host for this eighth season, and the seven celebrities who will take to the Maldives are: Khanya Mkangisa, Brendan Peyper, Sbahle Mpisane, Nay Maps, Tumi Voster, Melinda Bam, and Karabo Mogane.

The Adaaran resorts and villas in the Maldives will be home for the celebs and contestants, and will provide a spectacular setting for this season.

Perhaps best known for its idyllic white beaches and crystal clear turquoise sea, the Republic of the Maldives is situated in the Indian Ocean. This tropical nation is composed of 26 ring-shaped atolls, which are made up of more than 1 000 coral islands – many still uninhabited. Over 99% of the Maldives is sea, home to one of the most diverse marine treasures of the world. Surrounded by a reef structure, the Maldives houses one of the most exclusive and spectacular underwater life ecosystems. The 1% land is a masterpiece in natural landscaping, divine white beaches and gorgeous villas sitting amidst island flora. With celebs and consumers competing in fun and challenging games to get to that smoooth R1 million – against the breath taking Maldivian backdrop – viewers are in for a real treat!

South Africans who are keen to get a taste of the new season can download ‘Smoooth Fame’ – the theme song for #TIOT8 – from iTunes. The song, written by Katlego and producer Ross Finck, is all about becoming a star while going beyond challenges and taking necessary, yet calculated risks, to reach those goals – a message inspired by the TV show. The song has a strong tropical influence blended with subtle pop and hip-hop elements which makes it the perfect theme song for this season.
