Pyrimidine Synthesis and Salvage Pathway

Lesson on pyrimidine synthesis and metabolism, what it is, medications used to inhibit the pathway and the importance of of the pyrimidine synthesis pathway in human health.

In this lesson, I teach you guys what pyrimidines are, the three pyrimidines (cytosine, uracil, thymine), and an easy way to remember the pyrimidines. I also talk about the critical steps in the pyrimidine synthesis pathway including carbamoyl phosphate synthase 2 (CPS2), orotic acid production, why we need PRPP and the critical importance of thymidylate synthase.
