They ask me: Where are you from, girl?
I come from Kljaci and I stayed there
Oja noja, come, my sweetheart
My throat rings like a bell
It learned that while grazing sheep
Oja noja, come, my sweetheart
Lyrics (HR)
Pitaju me odaklen si mala,
Ja iz Kljaka bila i ostala
Oja noja, lole dođi moja
Grlo moje zvoni kano zvonce
Naučilo čuvajući ovce
Oja noja, lole dođi moja
Dalmatinska zagora is a historical and ethnographic region located in the mountainous areas of Dalmatia. It belongs to the Dinaric ethnographic zone. It is characterized by a pastoral economy. Kljaci is a village in the Šibenik-Knin County located 50 km southeast of Šibenik. The repertoire of KUD Kljaci includes archaic shepherd songs: treskavica, ojkavica, seja, suka, related to the broader UNESCO-listed ojkanje phenomenon. Another popular musical
form is playing the diple with bellows. “Oj od kad braća nisu zapivala” is a man shepherd song performed by a group of singers.
KUD "Sveti Ilija" Kljaci is a cultural and artistic ensemble founded in 2011 in the village of Kljaci, Croatia. Its goal is to preserve and promote regional traditions, including folk songs, dances, and customs. The society is involved in local and regional festivals and has represented the Šibenik-Knin County at national events, such as the "47th Vinkovačke jeseni" festival in 2012. KUD "Sveti Ilija" also organizes the annual "Ilindanska večer" (St. Elijah’s Evening) in Kljaci every July.
